J.J. Laster will trade his black and orange Tiger gear for the green Dolphin gear of Jacksonville University as on last Wednesday the star running back from Graceville signed a letter of intent to play football at JU. The Dolphin’s newly revived football program is headed up by former Gator QB Kerwin Bell and Laster should be a great fit for the up and coming program. The Graceville gymnasium was packed with Tiger supporters on Wednesday to watch their beloved Tiger running back take that next step toward playing college football. Those supporters included his mother Darlene Holland and father Jesse Laster.
Laster’s accomplishments at Graceville were such that his name will long be remembered by Tiger fans. He is the school’s all time leading rusher with over 6,000 yards to his credit. He was twice named the state’s Class 1B Player of the Year. The first time that occurred was in his sophomore season and the second was after his senior year. He led his Tiger’s football team to the playoffs three straight years, making it to the Championship game during that sophomore season.
