JAY – The Sneads Pirates dropped their third game of the season last Friday night with a 30-6 district road loss to the Royals of Jay. The Pirates trailed 12-0 at the half but got themselves right back in the game on a 70 yard touchdown run by Mark Lawson. After the missed extra point they trailed 12-6. The game remained at that score until late in the third quarter when Jay scored on a 40 yard pass play to make it 18-6. The fourth quarter proved to be the final nail in the coffin for the Pirates as the Royals, aided by several penalties against Sneads put up 12 more points on the scoreboard to win 30-6.
Lawson led the way offensively for the Pirates with 137 yards and a TD on 15 carries. The Pirate defense was led in tackles by Jamar White with 14, Billy Knight with 11 and Sherrick Williams with 10. Jeff Davis had 9 tackles on the night, including 2 sacks. With the loss Sneads fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in district play. They hit the road again this week as they travel to Port St. Joe to take on the Tiger Sharks in another district matchup.
