The Cottondale Lady Hornets and Hornets played host to Port St. Joe this past Saturday night. The Lady Hornets notched a solide 45-26 win over the Lady Tiger Sharks. Kiki Paul led the way with 15 points, all coming from beyond the three point line. Jakia Grimsley followed with 14 points and Shay Wright chipped in 11 points. The Lady Hornets improved to 5-7 on the season with the win.
The Hornets were not so fortunate as Port St. Joe pulled away from Cottondale in the third quarter and then fought off a Hornet rally in the fourth quarter for a 64-60 victory. Marcus Humose led the Hornets with 24 points and Drew Bellamy added 14 points. The Hornets held a four point lead at the half but the Tiger Sharks came out hot in the second half and took a four point lead into the final quarter. They went up by as many as 9 points before Cottondale made a run. But the Hornet rally fell short in the four point loss.
Both the boy’s and girl’s were in action on Tuesday in Panama City against Bozeman. Results of those games were not available at press time. The girls are back in action Thursday in Ponce De Leon and the back home on Friday for a double date with the boys against Graceville.
