Randa Hickman Becomes Lady Commodore

Randa Hickman, a 4 year member of the Marianna High School Volleyball team, signed a scholarship to play for Gulf Coast Community College beginning in the Fall 2009. The signing occurred Friday (January 16) at the MHS Media Center in front of family, friends, teachers, and fellow student-athletes.
Randa helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 19-7 record in 2008 and a district championship, the team’s first in eleven years. She led the team in blocks and was second in kills behind Jordan Sognalia, who signed in December to play for Pensacola Jr. College next fall. Randa played middle blocker for Marianna, but may move to outside hitter for Coach Bedford’s Lady Commodores.
Randa’s workouts at Gulf Coast begin in May 2009 in preparation for the fall season. She is currently working on her game with the Deep South U-18 team.
Randa follows in her older sister Kenna’s footsteps by taking her game to the next level. Kenna is currently at Thomas University on a softball scholarship. The girls, and their sister Marti, are the daughters of Roy and Vicki Baker of Marianna.
