Marianna Grapplers Compete at Bay; Gearing Up for Home Match

The Marianna wrestling squad traveled to Panama City this past Saturday to take part in the annual Bay Invitational Tournament held at Bay High School. Several of the Bulldogs finished in the top five of their respective weight classes. Three of those wrestlers finished third including Angel Candalaria (119) who went 2-1 with two pins; Brandon “Rudy” Robinson (160) went 3-1 with 3 pins; Dylan “Red” Reed (189) went 3-1 with 2 pins. Dalton Hendrix (171) finished forthgoing 2-2 with 1 pin. Brendan Ramsey (140) went 2-2 with two pins to finish fourth as well. Blaine Hansford picked up a win in the 130 weight class.

Other wrestlers that made the trip were Chesten Goodman (112), Jay Phelps (125), Patrick Cox (135), Mike Sawyer (145), Ren Stewart (152) and Will Collier (Heavy Weight). Marianna will be busy over the next couple of weeks as on Thursday they travel to Wewahitchka for a Quad Meet against the Gators. They are back in action again on Saturday as they travel to Pace for Dual Meet. On January 20th they go to Tallahassee for the BJ Fletcher Duals and then the following night, Thursday January 21st they host Wewahitchka in their only home match of the season.
