The Marianna Bulldog wrestling team traveled to Gulf Breeze this past Saturday to take part in the Andrew Institute Invitational at Gulf Breeze High School. Two Bulldogs finished in the top three for their respective weight classes. Angel Candalaria (119 lbs.) went 3-1 and recorded three pins to finish in third place. Brandon “Rudy” Robinson also went 3-1 with 3 pins to finish in third place in the 152 weight class.
Brendan Ramsey, 135 weight class, picked up two wins on the day, one of which was by a pin. Several wrestlers recorded wins by pins on the day as well. Dylan Reed (189), Ren Stewart (145), Patrick Cox (140) and Blaine Hansford (130) all won a match by pinning their opponents. Other wrestlers for Marianna included Dalton Hendrix (160), Jay Phelps (125) and Chesten Goodman (112).
Marianna is coached by Barry Gardner and Ron Thoreson. The grapplers will be practicing through the holidays and return to action on January 9th at the Bay Invitational in Panama City.
