All the waiting for Chipola Coach Jake Headrick came to an end earlier today when one of his top recruits for the upcoming season finally made his decision.
Geron Johnson, a 6’3 guard from Dayton, Ohio and ranked as the #56 player in the country by ESPNU, joined the Chipola Family after careful deliberation with his family.
A super athletic combo guard that has explosive speed and an ability to get to the rim with ease, Johnson will bring his game to Chipola as the Indians look to rebuild after a 19-9 season under first year coach Jake Headrick.
“Geron instantly brings our team some size, athleticism, and an ability to create to create for him and others at the guard position,” said Chipola Coach Jake Headrick.
In his senior year at Dunbar High School, Johnson led his team to the Division II Ohio State Championship, going for a game-high 24 points and earning MVP honors as his team defeated previously unbeaten Port Clinton 64-50 to win the fourth state title in school history.
