The Marianna Lady Bulldogs volleyball squad played host to Graceville on Tuesday night and came away with a clean sweep as both the varsity and junior varsity squads swept the Lady Tigers. In varsity action Marianna posted wins of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-12.
In game one Graceville hung close early on as the game was tied at 3-3. Marianna reeled off 7 straight points. Graceville kept battling and trailed 12-6 but the Lady Bulldogs then went on a tear. They outscored the Lady Tigers 13-1 to seal the first win of the night. Marianna jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game two with Hali Stout serving but then Graceville battled back to trail just 8-4. The Lady Tigers hung close for awhile and got as close as trailing 12-9 and 16-13. Eron Milton then went to the serving line Marianna ripped off 9 unanswered points to win the second contest. Game three again saw Graceville hang close early on as Marianna held a slim 4-3 lead. A kill by Cayce Griffin got the Lady Bulldogs up 6-3 and then they pushed that lead to as much as 16-7. A service ace by Meaghan Hinson got them up 18-7 and later a kill from Hinson made it 23-11. Marianna went on to win by 13 points.
Hinson led the squad with 7 spikes and 5 kills. Griffin followed with 6 spikes and 3 kills. Milton added 5 spikes and a kill. In Junior Varsity action the Lady Bulldogs captured two wins, with both games being won by a score of 25-5.
