Sneads beat Blountstown 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, and 25-19. Kara Alford led Sneads in kills with 12; Jordan Jackson had 8, while Brandy Strickland, Alyssa Edwards, and Yonna Bell each tallied 3 kills. The team earned 12 ace serves with Alford and Strickland leading with 3 each. Emily Jones played an excellent defensive game earning 13 digs and 12 perfect passes in the serve receive. Kara Alford led the team in digs with 14. Shannon McCaffrey added two perfect passes during serve receive. Sophomore Ashley Rogers also checked in for the Pirates using her speed to assist the Lady Pirates’ defense. This win brings the Lady Pirates record to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the district.
In addition to the varsity, the JV volleyball team beat Blountstown in three games. The 10th graders, along with Freshmen Shelby Byler, won the first game. Next, the freshmen team checked in and fought hard but came up just short 22-25. The sophomores finished the final game by beating Blountstown 15-12. 10th grader Jenna Sneads had a great night with two block kills and 2 kills in addition to an ace serve. Alex Maphis and Blaire Edenfield, sophomore setters, had a great night leading the 10th grade offense with seven assists between them. Outside hitter Savanna Owens earned one ace serve and one kill. Savanna also played an outstanding defensive game for the Pirates earning several digs on the night. Shelby Laurence, defensive specialists, earned two ace serves and five service points. For the Freshmen, Logan Neel earned five kills and 1 block kill, while Mallory McDaniel earned 5 kills. Outside hitter, Shelbi Byler had 3 kills and seven ace serves. Freshmen setter McKenzie May had 4 assists for the night. Allaynah Weiss, also a setter, earned one kill and 3 service points. Yaya Owens and Aaliyah Raines also checked in for the Lady Pirates and did a great job. The JV has boosted their record to 2-0.
