The Cottondale Hornets traveled to Graceville last Friday night and beat their arch rivals 55-40. The Tigers hung close early on and the game was tied at 8-8 midway through the first quarter. But the Hornets went on a 8-3 run and lead 16-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Hornets continued their hot shooting with a 5-0 run to start the second quarter. Graceville closed the gap and trailed by just two points before the Hornets went on another run, this time scoring 7 unanswered points. Cottondale led 28-19 at the half.
The second half was more runs as Cottondale opened up the third quarter with 7 straight points. Graceville cut the Hornet lead to 11 late in the third quarter but that was as close as they could come. Cottondale went on to close out the fourth quarter and post a 15 point victory. Cottondale was led by Terry Benbow with 17 points and Marcus Humose with 15. Graceville was led by Camerson Dozier with 14 points and Gabriel Best with 9.
