Bullpups Close Out Regular Season

The Marianna Bullpups traveled to Havana last Thursday night and closed out the regular season with a 32-8 win over the Bears. Quayshaan Johnson had the big night for the Bullpups, scoring three touchdowns to lead the Bullpups. Johnson scored in the first quarter on a 9 yard run and Micha Reed added the two point conversion run to make it 8-0. Havana countered early in the second quarter to make it a 8-6 game. The Bullpups responded though with a 26 yard scoring run from Johnson and Reed added another two point conversion run to give Marianna a 16-6 lead at the half.
In the second half the Bullpups fumbled in the end zone and the Bears recovered to narrow the lead to 16-8. Shaundre McAroy then scored in fourth quarter on a 14 yard run and Bradley Middleton hit Kyle Tanner on a pass to convert the two point play. Marianna’s lead increased to 24-8 early in the fourth quarter. Johnson added his final score of the night on a 30 yard run and then converted the two point play to make the final score 32-8.
On Tuesday night the Bullpups traveled to Wakulla and pulled off a 20-0 victory. Johnson had two touchdown runs and Middleton threw a 24 yard touchdown pass to Reed. Middleton, Reed and Anthony Speights all recorded interceptions for the Bullpup defense. The Bullpup’s record now stands at 6-1 and they will next play in a conference post season bowl on October 30th. That game will be played at Wakulla High School and their opponent will be the winner of Thursday night’s contest between Taylor County and North Florida Christian. The bowl game will be broadcast locally on 94.1 FM WTYS.
