The Chipola Lady Indians split in a pair of outings last week in Ocala as they participated in the Florida Women’s JUCO Shootout. On Friday the Lady Indians fell to Central Florida by a score of 74-58, in part due to a rough outing at the free throw line. Chipola managed just 13 made free throws in 29 attempts. Lynette Johnson led with 12 points and Latoya Williams followed with 11. They followed that loss up with a huge 94-34 win over Broward on Saturday as Ashlie Billingslea had 20 points, Marnesha Hall followed had 16 points, Williams had 12 points and Jamia Aikens chipped in 10 points.
The ladies return to the friendly confines of the Milton H. Johnson Health Center on Tuesday night to take on South Georgia Tech and came away with a 80-40 win over the Lady Jets. Sequoyah Griffin led the squad with 17 points and Lenita Sanford followed with 9 points.
The Lady Indians are currently ranked #2 in the State and #6 in the Nation. Their record after Tuesday night’s win is 13-2. They will next be in action on Tuesday and Wednesday when they play in Ocala in the Central Florida Tournament. On Tuesday they’ll take on Palm Beach and on Wednesday they’ll battle Middle Georgia.
