MARIANNA—The Norris D. Langston Youth Scholarship Foundation will hold its annual basketball classic Dec. 18 - 20 in the Milton H. Johnson Health Center on the campus of Chipola College
The annual Basketball Classic is strictly a prep affair, with the focus on high school basketball teams from around the region.
For the Fourth-straight year, the tournament will be held at Chipola as the foundation continues its goal of exposing youngsters to the college environment as a way of expanding horizons beyond high school.
The tournament is sponsored this year by the Florida Department of Lottery. Tickets are $6 per day.
The Norris D. Langston Youth Foundation is dedicated to broadening horizons of young people in a six-county swath of Northwest Florida. The organization provides tutoring, mentoring and inspirational programs throughout the region.
Proceeds from the classic benefit the Langston Endowment in the Chipola Foundation. The group has awarded more than 300 scholarships in 9 years with a fourth of those students attending Chipola.
