The show was first scheduled for April 24th, but it was cancelled due to inclement weather, and was rescheduled and took place on Saturday, May 15, 2010.
A total of 14 dogs were registered for the fun event. The show itself bore little resemblance to the Westminster, instead, the show was small-town charming, and the dogs were clearly amateurs. Helen Grice, event chairman believes the weather and the economy played a big role in the number of pet owner/ dogs and spectators this year.
Most of the handlers this year were children who were so proud to escort their dog on a promenade around the area. Sometimes they paused to sniff the grass, or leave something behind or maybe they just wanted to be carried.
The Hound Dog Café served pulled pork plates, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks.
The money raised will go toward the further beautification of Sneads. The Yellow Rose Garden at the Post Office is courtesy of the club.
The club wishes to thank the judges, Cheryl McDaniel, Jeremy Branch, Kelly Barfoot, and Charlotte Garner, also Dillon Kilpatrick, American Legion Post 241, and all merchants/organizations, and participants who helped make this event possible. We are most grateful to each and everyone.
