Bulldogs Improve To 2-0 In District

Marianna went on the road last Thursday night and captured a 4-1 win over district for Chipley. Troy Clemmons was the winning pitcher, going 5 1/3 innings and striking out 12 Tigers. Marianna plated a run in the fourth inning as Colby Johnson scored on a passed ball and then added 3 more runs in the fifth inning. Adam Bigale had a 2 RBI double to score Dustin Larkin and Johnson. Fidel Montgomery scored on a sacrifice fly by Zack Smith.
On Tuesday night the Bulldogs racked up another district win with an 8-4 victory over Holmes County. After Marianna fell behind 1-0 the Bulldogs rallied to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They made it a 4-1 game in the fifth inning when Adam Bigale stroked a RBI single to score Dustin Larkin. The bottom of the sixth proved to be big for the Bulldogs as they plated four more runs to take a 7 run lead. Alex Bigale reached on an error and Laramie Dryden’s bunt resulted in a throwing error that allowed Bigale to come home. Dustin Miller laid down a bunt and another throwing error allowed Dryden to score. Miller scored on a sacrifice fly by Clemmons and Johnson sent a shot over the left field wall for a solo home run to make it an 8-1 game. Holmes County managed three runs in the top of the seventh as Clemmons, the winning pitcher, had exited the game and was relieved first by Alex Bigale and then Colby Johnson.
