Indian Baseball Wins Four in A Row

The Chipola Baseball squad has racked up four wins to 13-8 on the season. Last Friday they captured a 12-4 over Grand Rapids as they took and early 3-0 lead. They led 5-2 after 4 innings and then plated 2 runs in the 5th inning and 4 runs in the 6th inning. Mark Ellis went 4-5 on the day with 7 RBI and 2 home runs. Patrick Corbin was the winning pitcher as he went 5 innings and struck out 6 batters.
On Saturday they beat St. Johns 7-4 as Jason Townsend got the win, going 5 2/3 innings and striking out four. Chipola trailed in the game 3-2 before scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th innings. Andy Fermin went 3-5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Ellis went 2-4 with 2 RBI as well.
Sunday saw the Indians pick up a 11-1 win in 7 innings over Grand Rapids. Marc Bourgeois had the hot bat, going 4-4 with 3 runs scored. Dustin Spruill was 2-4 with 3 RBI and Jake Rogers was 3-4 with 2 RBI. Austin Wright went the distance on the mound, allowing no runs and striking out 11 batters. On Tuesday the Indians battled through the cold weather and posted a 13-2 win over Wallace CC – Dothan. They took an early 2-0 lead before Wallace tied the game. The Indians then exploded for 8 runs in the 5th inning and 3 more runs in the 6th inning to notched their 13th win of the season.
Chipola has four more games before they open Panhandle Conference play next Friday on the road at Pensacola. They will play host to Grand Rapids on Thursday and Hibbing CC on Monday. They have road games this Friday and Saturday against Texarkana.
