Hope School Basketball Tournament

On December 10, 2009, Hope School hosted its first Basketball Tournament. The site for the event was Grand Ridge School Gym. The tournament had four teams that participated: Hope School Falcons, defending Special Olympics State Champions; the Gretchen Everhart Owls, from Tallahassee; the Leon Lions, from Tallahassee; and the Silver Sands Sharks, from Fort Walton Beach. The first game was played between the Owls and the Falcons, followed by a game between the Lions and the Sharks. The third game was played between the Owls and the Sharks, and the final game for the trophy was played between the Falcons and the Lions. The winners were: 1st Place- Hope School Falcons, 2nd Place- Leon Lions, 3rd Place- Everhart Owls, 4th Place- Silver Sands Sharks. Students from Hope School attended the event as well as students from Grand Ridge School. Concessions were sold by Hope School’s Special Activity Committee. Hope School wishes to thank Grand Ridge School and Principle Randy Ward for allowing the tournament in their gym. Hope School Coaches state that this will be an annual event.
