Indians Take The Field

The Chipola Indians baseball squad will take the field on Thursday at 9:00 am in the first round of action at the FCCAA State Baseball Tournament in Lakeland. The Indians, making their sixth consecutive appearance in the FCCAA State Baseball Tournament, will square off against Palm Beach State. The tournament is being played at Tigertown Stadium, which is the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers. Palm Beach, who enters the tournament ranked #2 in the state and #9 in the nation, are the Southern Coast Conference with a overall record of 35-13. Chipola, who is ranked #7 in the state, finished as the Panhandle Conference runner up and are 26-23.
The Indians head to Lakeland to start the tournament after placing five Indians on the All Panhandle Conference team. Eric Sauls (OF), Blake Newalu (INF) and Austin Wright (LHP) were named First Team All Conference. LeVon Washington (OF) and CJ Reifenhauser (LHP) were named second team All Conference. Sauls, Wright and Newalu also were named among Top 10 Players from Panhandle Conference.
