Call it a triple play as family and friends gathered last Friday at Chipola College to watch three current Cottondale Lady Hornet softball players sign letters of intent to attend Chipola and play softball for the Lady Indians. Shae Dickens, Liz Krauser and Selentia Pittman joined Chipley’s Skylar Davis for the signing at the college’s continuing education building. Chipola Head Coach Belinda Hendrix spoke highly of the future Lady Indians and the benefit of being able to see them play locally. "We’ve been able to watch these young ladies grow into amazing athletes. They are all very versatile and can play more than just one position," said Hendrix.
Shae Dickens is the daughter of Robert and Equallia Dickens and plays third base and outfield for Cottondale. Dickens was also a member of the Lady Hornets basketball team that made it to the FHSAA Final Four in Lakeland last month. "This is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve watched Chipola play a lot of times and I’m excited about being able to be a Lady Indian," said Dickens.
Liz Krauser is the daughter of Chris and Linda Krauser and spends most of her time on the diamond in the pitcher’s circle. "I’ve worked real hard to be the best pitcher I can be and am looking forward to being able to pitch at the next level," said Krauser.
Selentia Pittman is the daughter of Cullen Pittman and Easter Russ and plays shortstop for the Lady Hornets. "I’ve been playing softball all my life and come from a softball family. I am excited to be able to play at a program like Chipola," said Pittman.
