The Chipola Area Gator Club will hold its annual gathering on Tuesday, May 4 at the Jackson County Agriculture Center on Highway 90. The guest speaker will be Justin Fry, an assistant coach, who will be working with the offensive line and tight ends. Coach Fry played football at the University of Indiana, and holds the record for most consecutive starts at 45. He played as an offensive lineman from 2002—2006. He came to the Gators in 2009 and did a great job last year as our speaker and we are glad to have him back. We welcome Coach Fry and are excited to hear about the recently completed Spring Game, attended by some 52,000 Gator fans. It will be a little different this year as there is no Tim Tebow on offense and no Brandon Spikes on defense, but we have an outstanding quarterback in John Brantley and a very solid group on the defense. Coach Fry will bring a DVD showing highlights of the Orange and Blue game. He is looking to bring a lot of Gator goodies with him. The Social time begins at 6:30 p.m., which will include refreshments and boiled peanuts. Everyone just gets to know each other better and mingle with Coach Fry and his wife Lauren. Dinner will be enjoyed at 7 p.m., consisting of Jackson County smoked steaks, baked potato, tossed salad, tea, and cake. The cost is $15 per person. Hot dogs for the children are free as always. One change this year is if you do not pay your annual family dues of $25, two years in a row, your name will be removed from the membership list and you will not get an invitation. Election of officers will be held for the coming year. We look for a large crowd of over 100. Last year’s crowd was 145. For reservations call: Charlie Brown at 482-8930 or Phillip Clikas at 482-7209 by Sunday May 2.
Come on out
