The Malone Tigers posted a 12-2 win over the visiting Wildcats of Bethlehem on Monday night to pick up their 10th win of the season. Will Dunaway took to the mound and picked up the win in allowing just two runs on the night.
Malone jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Blake Henson scored but the Wildcats came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning. In the third inning the Tigers began to take control of the game as Henson walked, then stole second and third base. The throw to third base ended up in left field allowing Henson to come home for the score. Jeffery Pittman stroked a RBI single to score Travlaeon Shuemaker, who had come in to run for Dunaway who had been hit by a pitch. Pittman stole second and then eventually scored on a wild pitch. Derek Orshall had drawn a walk and later scored on a ground out by Robert Orshall. The last run of the inning came when Hunter Dillard scored on a RBI single from Sean Henry to give Malone a 6-1 lead.
The bottom of the fourth saw Malone increase their lead as Dunaway singled and Derek Orshall reached on an error. Robert Orshall then crushed one to the gap for a two RBI double that scored Shuemaker and Derek Orshall. Nick Breeden then ripped a RBI triple to score Robert Orshall and then Breeden came home on a ground out from Dillard. That put Malone up 10-1 after four innings of play.
The final nails in the coffin came in the sixth inning as Derek Orshall tripled to lead off the inning. Robert Orshall and Breeden were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Shuemaker’s two RBI single scored a pair of Orshalls and the Tigers brought home the 10 run win. Malone improved to 10-8 on the season and were scheduled to take on Munroe Tuesday night on the road. Results of that contest were not available at press time.
