Scholarships Opportunities to Florida State University are Available

The Panhandle Seminole Club of Jackson County has awarded over $24,000 in scholarships over the last 6 years to students from this area.

This year the Club will award up to four (4) $1,000 scholarships to students who have been accepted to any Florida State University Campus, and who will be enrolled as full time students for the fall semester of 2010. Applicants must be a US citizen and have graduated from a Jackson County High School. The criteria used to screen applicants will include academics, extracurricular and work activities, a written essay and letters of recommendation from non family members. School of Criminology and Criminal Justice:

Two local donors, the Baker and Glass families, have endowed two (2) scholarships in the FSU School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Preference is given to students from Jackson County and the scholarships amounts vary but are usually around $1000 each year. Additional information and an application may be obtained from the School of Criminology website www.criminology.fsu.edu/. Legacy Scholarship program:

The Florida State University Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship program was established in 2009 to encourage the children of the University’s alumni to attend their parents’ alma mater and carry on the legacy of Florida State within their family. Awards are made to entering freshman. Legacy scholarships are funded by the Alumni Association and the contributions of its members. Awards Offered - 2 x $1,000 Awards for In-State Students and - 2 x $2,000 Awards for Out-of-State Students. Awards are limited to Incoming freshman and the student must have at least one parent, grandparent, sibling, step-parent, must be a graduate (undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D. or J.D.) of The Florida State University and a current dues-paying member of the Alumni Association*. If one is not currently a member, they can join online at www.alumni.fsu.edu/join. Applicants must submit an Online Application to be considered for the scholarship award.
