Friday Night Football Preview – 11/13/09

Marianna (4-5) at Sneads (5-4) – History will be made in this contest as these two schools have never met before during the regular season. Throw in the fact that Pirate Head Coach Don Dowling served as the Bulldogs Head Coach for five seasons (2001-06) and you have all the makings of a great game. Sneads broke their 4 game road losing streak last Friday with a 38-30 win over Bozeman. Marianna had an open date but also spent time preparing for their District Runner Up Tie Breaker in Chipley on Wednesday night. Marianna will have to try and stop Pirate workhorse Mark Lawson while the Pirate defense will try to contain a Bulldog offense that is averaging almost 28 points per game.

Graceville (3-6) at Chipley (4-5) 7 pm – After a 32-18 win over county rival Cottondale last Friday night Graceville heads down the road to Washington County for their big rivalry with Chipley. Although Graceville won’t make the playoffs this year, they now have back to back wins and would love to close out the season with a win over Chipley. Meanwhile Chipley is a squad that has gotten much better as the season has progressed. After starting 0-3 Chipley went 4-1 in their next 5 games. They are coming off a 35-21 loss to district foe Pensacola Catholic. Also a note of interest is that Chipley Head Coach Rob Armstrong played football at Graceville and later coached at Graceville.

Liberty County (8-1) at Cottondale (1-7) 7 pm – An already tough and long season doesn’t get any easier for the Hornets in their season finale. They will play host to the Bulldogs of Liberty County. The Bulldogs enter the contest with only one loss and that was to a good Port St. Joe squad. They have wins over four teams that have beaten Cottondale this season (Maclay, Marianna, Franklin Co., Graceville). They also have beaten Bozeman, Wewa, West Gadsden and Blountstown. The Hornets are coming off a 32-18 loss to rival Graceville.
