Both the Sneads Pirates and Graceville Tigers boy’s basketball squads took part in pre season tip off tournaments. The Pirates traveled to Blountstown last week for a preseason tournament on Tuesday and Thursday nights. On Tuesday night the Pirates battled hard against the Seahawks of Franklin County but fell 55-51. The game was tied with two minutes to play but the Seahawks squeaked by in the closing moments for a four point win. Terrence Green had 16 points for the Pirates while Jeff Davis had 10 and Jamar White added 8 points. On Thursday night the Pirates were minus their football players who were taking part in bowl game in Branford. Sneads took on the Gators of Wewahitchka and even without their football players picked upa 51-40 win. Jeff Bell led the Pirates with 26 points. Sneads opened their regular season on Tuesday at Bozeman. Results of that contest were not available at press time.
The Graceville Tigers took part in a preseason tournament in Poplar Springs and posted two wins. On Thursday they beat Poplar Springs 67-34. Cameron Dozier had a big night as he led the way with 15 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Jamal Miller chipped in 9 points in the win over the Atomics. On Friday night Gracevilled downed Bethlehem 54-34 as Craig Myrick had the hot hand with 22 points. Dozier added 12 points and 10 assists. Graceville opens their regular season scheduled next Tuesday (12/1/09) at Vernon.
