The Sneads Pirates made the long trip to Bratt last Friday night and the three hour ride seemed even longer after a hard fought 10-7 loss to the Northview Chiefs. With the loss Sneads fell to 4-4 on the year and 4-3 in district play. They will be on the road again this week, their third straight road game, as they travel to Panama City to take on Bozeman.
Sneads, trying to win their first road game of the year, took an early 7-0 lead as Jeff Davis scored on a five yard run. The score came after a Chief fumble was recovered by the Pirates. Josh Rogers added the point after kick to make it a 7-0 game. Northview came right back on the next possession to score and tie the game at 7-7. Late in the first half Northview booted a field goal to take a 10-7 lead at the half.
The second half saw the Chiefs, while held scoreless, dominate the time of possession battle. Long sustaining drives had them in numerous third and short downs, to which they often converted and kept the drive alive. The Pirate offense had difficulty moving the ball and could only muster 90 yards of rushing on the evening. Mark Lawson led the way with 55 yards on 17 carries. Jamar White led the defense with 12 tackles and 7 assist. Rogers added 7 tackles and 7 assist and Terrence Green added 5 tackles and 7 assist.
