The Sneads Pirates football squad traveled to Branford last Thursday night to play in the Suwannee County Bowl against the Branford Buccaneers. Sneads capped off the 2009 season with an impressive 37-20 win over Branford. Quarterback Terrence Green hooked up with receiver Anthony Dawkins on the Pirates first possession for a 60 yard scoring strike. Jeff Davis added the point after kick to make it 7-0. Davis next booted a 30 yard field goal to give the Pirates a 10-0 lead.
After a touchdown by the Buccaneers Sneads picked off a Branford pass in the second quarter as Jamar White make the grab. That interception set up a 56 yard touchdown run by Green and a point after kick by Davis to up the Pirates lead to 17-7. The Bucs, coached by former Graceville coach Bill Wyles, scored a touchdown to narrow the margin to 17-14. Sneads took control in the second half as they got two touchdown runs by senior Mark Lawson. His first TD run of 3 yards gave the Pirates a 24-14 lead after a point after kick by Davis. Another Lawson scoring run and Davis point after kick made it 31-14. Both squads added another touchdown late in the game as Sneads got a TD run by White to make the final score 37-20. Sneads finished the season with a 6-5 record
