As promised here is a brief profile of the team members of the 1951 Marianna Bulldogs.

Floyd (Buddy) Jordan:  1957 graduate of FSU, currently manager & Sr. Vice President of an investment brokerage firm in Stuart, FL.  Married with three adult children.  Second home in Montana.

Robert Earl Standland:  Married to Nadine Peacock with 3 adult children.  Spent most of his adult life in retail businesses.  Is currently employed by the Jackson County Clerk of Circuit Court.  He loves his horses and grand-children!

Jack Brown:  Graduated from University of AL, spent 2 years as on officer in the Army.  Operated the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for several years, then began a career in Real Estate Appraising and has owned and operate the Title Services of Northwest Florida, Inc. for many years. He and his wife, Dru, live in Marianna and a home in NC.

Jimmy Hayes:  Worked the railroads all around the US for 15 years, was in Alaska for a number of years.  Retired to Arizona where he has won several awards for his artwork.

Jack Finlayson:  He and his wife, Rita, own and manage two restaurants in the Montgomery, Al area.  He plays basketball several times a week and he participated in a National Senior Adult Basketball Tournament in California this summer where his team placed high in the winners’ bracket.

Frank Rooks:  He and wife, JoAnn live in Marianna.  Frank retired as an investigator for the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco. They live on Merritt’s Mill Pond and he still loves to camp, hunt and fish. 

John Gause:  He and his wife, Joanne (Peacock) have lived in the Dothan area for most of their  adult life.  They have been active in the mobile home sales industry and he served as manager of TV station WTVY for many years

Charles Grambling:  He and his wife Joanne live in Panama City; he was in the insurance business most of his adult life.

Emory Singletary:  Lived in Marianna where he and his wife managed Singletary’s Florist for many years.  Last known to be living in Panama City.



James Williams:  Married Robbie Hall and retired from Zerox. They have two adult children and live in Jacksonville.

Odell Medlock - retired from a cardboard box manufacturing company and lives in Palatka

Jerry “Cooter” Hill:  – retired beverage – lives in Cottondale

Billy Joe Tidwell:  Lives in Texas and is an electrical contractor.

Lambert Goodson:  deceased – was a retired state worker

Jim Hagan: deceased – retired Navy

Grey Wilson (Head Coach) – deceased – left Marianna to coach at his alma mater (Defuniak Springs); also later served as Principal.

Harry Howell (Assistant Coach) – deceased; went on to be longtime Head Football Coach at Marianna; retired from State (old H.R.S.) and lived in Mexico Beach with his wife Emily until his death.
