Dozens of former Chipola College baseball players returned to their alma mater Feb. 5-7 for the third annual Chipola Baseball Alumni event.
ESPN analyst Buck Showalter visited Chipola coach Jeff Johnson on Friday. Showalter, the former manager of the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Rangers, brought along his former Chipola teammate Russ Aldridge from the Indian’s 1975 team.
Team Mathis won the Alumni Homerun Derby with members: Jeff Mathis, Jake Mathis, Luis Bautista, David Oswalt, Victor Alvarez and Ethan Martin.
Alumni in attendance included: Richie Smith, Ryan Chaffee, Jaye Chapman, Jeff Bosse, Raynel Robles, Brandon Street, Jake Mathis, Blake Balkcom, Drew Miller, Luke Johnson, Angel Medina, Jose Bautista, Kellen Ludwig, Jonathan Swearingen, Josh Lawhon, Drew Cook, David Credeur, Grant Conyers, Jason Barber, Travis Anderson, Victor Alvarez, Jeff Mathis, Josh Storm, David Oswalt, Alan Horne, Mat Gamel, Liam Shanahan, Andrew Gay, Luis Bautista, Kevin Johnson, Jay Scott and Shawn Larkin.
