The Vikings captured the Marianna City League football championship recently. The squad, made of of kids ages 11-13, went 7-0 this season. It is the second straight year that the Vikings have brought home the championship as last year’s squad laid claim to the title with an 8-0 record. Nine starters from the 2008 championship team return to this year’s squad. Could a three-peat be in the future for the Vikings. Head Coach Bryan Johnson knows that will be tough, but having 13 returning players is a good start. “The big key for next year will be that all of our offensive line will be coming back. We’ll lose Teon Long as our running back (800 yards on limited touches) but we’ve got some other young men that have a lot of speed coming back that can run the ball,” Johnson commented.
