Bullpups Win Two

By Clint Cox
The Marianna Bullpups have gotten off to another fine start this season, winning both of their first two outings. Last Thursday night the Bullpups traveled to Monticello and posted a win over Jefferson County by a score of 28-12. The Bullpups were led by a trio of backs, starting with Derrick Knowles who rushed for over 100 yards and had a TD. Shaundre McAroy rushed for over 90 yards with a score and Jock Wooden had just under 90 yards with two TDs.
On Tuesday night they played host to Roulhac Middle School out of Chipley and came away with a 32-16 win. Wooden had a big night as he rushed for three scores, including a long run in the first quarter to put the Bullpups up 6-0. After a two point conversion the Bullpups got another score as Knowles scooped up a loose ball that was fumbled by a teammate. Knowles then raced into the end zone to put Marianna up 14-0. The Bullpups took a 16-0 lead after the two point conversion. Marianna posted another score late in the second quarter when Wooden bulled his way into the end zone from 8 yards out. Knowles added the two point run and the Bullpups took a 24-0 lead at the half.
The second half began with Marianna marching down the field and getting a 4 yard scoring run from Wooten. Shaundre McElroy added the two point run to make it 32-0. Roulhac managed a couple of late scores but the Bullpups went on to the 16 point victory. Marianna will next be in action on Tuesday when they host Havana at 5 pm.
