Lady Indians Take Two From Vernon

The Grand Ridge Middle School Lady Indians basketball team picked up two victories this past Monday evening over the visiting Vernon Yellow Jackets. In game one, 6th & 7th graders, the Lady Indians took an early 10-4 lead after one quarter. By halftime they had increased that lead to 20-9. The final tally was 34-18 in favor of Grand Ridge. Brandi Walden led the way with 10 points while Ashlyn Roberts followed with 8 points.

In the second game, 8th grade, the Lady Indians dominated the Lady Yellow Jackets from the outset. Grand Ridge led 12-2 at the end of the first quarter and then 23-3 at the half. The end of the third quarter saw the Lady Indians leading 35-10 and the final score was 41-14. Logan Neel led the 8th graders with 16 points and Brooke Williams added 8 points.

Grand Ridge was scheduled to take on Marianna on Tuesday afternoon. They will close out their regular season with an away contest on Thursday at Chipley. The Lady Indians will then participate in the Tri-County Conference tournament October 12-15 in Bonifay.
