Indians Nip Yellow Jackets

The Grand Ridge Indians middle school squad pulled out a 14-8 win over the visiting Yellow Jackets from Vernon Middle School. Wayne Driggers led the way for Grand Ridge as he scored on a 91 yard touchdown run for the Indians first score. Vernon rallied in the first quarter to tie the game at 6-6. In the second quarter Driggers hooked up with Darius Williams for an 18 yard scoring strike. Driggers then added the point after run to make it a 14-6 ball game. Before the end of the first half Vernon came up with a safety to narrow the margin to 14-8 as both team went to the locker room for halftime. The second half was a defensive struggle as neither team could mount any points.

With the win Grand Ridge improved to 3-1 on the season and will play host to Bonifay next Tuesday at Citizen’s Field in Sneads.
