Graceville Falls To Liberty County

By Clint Cox

This past Friday night the Graceville Tigers found out the same thing that the Marianna Bulldogs found out several weeks ago. And that is that the Liberty County Bulldogs are an outstanding squad. Liberty County downed the Tigers in Bristol by a score of 35-16. Graceville fell behind early as Liberty County scored on their first three possessions and jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Graceville got on the scoreboard in the second quarter as quarterback Jacky Miles hit Chris Works on a 20 yard scoring strike. Miles then added a two point conversion run to make it a 21-8 game. But Liberty County fired right back with a score and led 28-8 at the half. Miles got the Tigers back on the board in the second half with a 12 yard run and a two point conversion run to make it a 28-16 game. Again the Liberty County squad answered and posted a score to make it 35-16.

Liberty County improved to 5-1 on the season while Graceville fell to 1-5. But their upcoming game in Monticello against Jefferson County still offers hope to finish the season on a high note. If Graceville could pull off a win in Monticello, and then follow that up with wins over Rocky Bayou and Cottondale they would finish second in the district and make the playoffs.
