The Cottondale Middle School football squad traveled to Graceville on Tuesday night and came away with a 28-8 win. It was the Prentice Webb show for the Hornets as he rushed for 3 first half touchdowns to give Cottondale a 20-0 halftime lead. The Hornets added another score in the second half with a 15 yard run by Jeremy Deese. Webb hit Dakota Chambliss for a two point Graceville got on the scoreboard with a 20 yard scoring run and two point conversion run from Dameyon O’Neal for their 8 points
After a scoreless first quarter Graceville coughed up the football and Cottondale recovered at the Tiger’s 46 yard line. After a Hornet penalty and with 5:17 left in the first half, Webb bolted up the middle for a 50 yard touchdown run. Jake Kernnoshak hit Dakota Chambliss on a two point pass play to make it a 8-0 game. With less than three minutes left in the half Webb sprinted 40 yards for a score. The two point play failed but the Hornets led 14-0. The Tigers mounted a drive and got into Hornet territory but once again a turnover spelled doom. After the Hornets recovered a Tiger fumble Webb took the handoff and rambled 60 yards for a score with less than a minute to play in the half. After the two point play failed Cottondale held a 20-0 lead.
