The Graceville Tigers gave a valiant effort but came up short in an 18-16 district loss to the FAMU Baby Rattlers last Friday night in Tallahassee. The Tigers battled back and pushed the Baby Rattlers to the final seconds of the game before falling by two points.
The Baby Rattlers took the early lead as they scored on their second possession of the evening. That score held until halftime but early in the second half Graceville took an 8-6 lead. Midway through the fourth quarter the Tigers were again on the drive but a fumble, their third of the night, killed the drive. FAMU cashed in on the turnover and scored to take an 18-8 lead. The Tigers were not done yet though as Jackie Miles engineering a drive and tossing a 15 yard scoring strike to Darrell Olds with :35 second remaining in the game. Graceville converted on the two point play to make it 18-16. But the ensuing on side kick was recovered by FAMU to preserve the Rattler victory.
Graceville fell to 1-4 on the season and will be on the road this week in Bristol as they take on Liberty County.
