The Marianna Bullpups hosted the Hornets of Cottondale in middle school football action Tuesday night and recorded a 52-0 win. The Pups got off to a quick start as Jonathan Sikes scored and Justin Klotz added the two point run to make it 8-0. Later in the first quarter Klotz rolled to his right on a QB keeper and raced down the sidelines 35 yards to give Marianna a 14-0 lead. In the second quarter Jock Wooden bulled his way into the end zone from 7 yards out. Wooden added the two point run to make it 22-0. Marianna added another score midway through the second quarter and then got the ball back late in the first half. On the last play of the half Klotz hit tight end Kyle Tanner on a 25 yard scoring strike. Sikes added the two point run to give Marianna a 38-0 lead at the half.
The Bullpups picked up in the second half right where they left off in the first half as punter Teon Long scooped up a high snap over his head and rambled 64 yards for a score. T.J. Griffin added the two point run to make it 46-0. Long added a 35 yard run early in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 52-0.
At the conclusion of the fourth quarter 12 minutes was added to the clock and those players who had not played during regulation took the field. Dequarius Baker got a long run of 50 yards to score for Marianna and T.J. Griffin added the two point run. Moments later Griffin bolted 70 yards for another Bullpup score.
With the win Marianna improved to 3-0 on the season while Cottondale fell to 1-2 on the year.
