The Sneads Lady Pirates volleyball squad traveled to Graceville on Tuesday night and came away with a 3-0 win over the Lady Tigers. Sneads jumped out to an early lead in the first set and led 16-6 on a kill by Ashley Smith. Sneads went on to post a 25-6 win in the first set. The second set was a closer set as Jessica McClendon came up with a block to cut the Sneads lead to 5-4. Tiarra Sorey served up a point moments later to give the Lady Tigers a 7-6 lead. But Ashley Smith got Sneads back on track with a couple of kills to get the Lady Pirates back on top at 9-8. The two squads battled over the next few points and Sneads took a 14-11 lead. From there though Sneads caught fire and outscored the Lady Tigers 11-2 to rack up a 25-13 win. The third set was all Sneads as they jumped out to a 9-3 lead and then saw Meagan Smith serve 15 straight winning points. Along the way Kara Alford’s block gave Sneads a 20-3 lead and then the Lady Pirates went on to win 25-3.
With the district win Sneads improved to 14-0 in district play and 21-3 overall. The Lady Pirates will take a week off and then play in a tri-match next Saturday in Tallahassee against John Paul II Catholic and North Florida Christian. Graceville will be back in action on Thursday when they play host to Cottondale. Graceville, Sneads and Cottondale will be participating in their upcoming district tournament in Blountstown beginning October 26th.
